The midlands is getting its first Adventure Race and its called the Lilliput Legend. Right in the middle of the summer participants will descend on Mullingar for this inaugural race. There are two options available the ‘Kick Ass’ and the ‘Bad Ass’ courses. The ‘Kick Ass’ course involves a longer run and cycle. Formerly the West Wicklow Roar, the Moxie Challenge – ‘The Day in the Garden’ is another Adventure Race that packs a real punch. The Tulfarris Tough ten is now a firmly established event of Irelands running scene. This ‘tough’ ten mile road race is over quite an undulating course but the spectacular views of the Wicklow mountains and Blessington Lakes easily makes up for this. Hell Week PT(TM) isnt satisfied with running their usual day elite military style selection courses. No, this time they are offering a tougher and meaner ‘Day of Days Challenge’. This inaugural challenge is a step beyond their usual selection style courses with a greater emphasis on brain power. Limited to 60 places, all participants will camp out on Mornington Beach. Over five hundred people are expected to take to the streets of Belfast to participate in the first George Best Belfast City Airport 5 mile road race on Sunday 20th May. The race, in memory of the late athlete Les Jones, has received significant funding from the airport’s Community Fund and is being organised by governing body Athletics Northern Ireland.
